Digital Lock Installation Geelong
I install digital locks for homes, rental properties and small businesses across Geelong, the Bellarine and Surf Coast. The right lock depends on the door — timber doors, narrow aluminium frames, sliding doors and internal doors can all need different options.
Popular Digital Lock Options
These are the main types of digital locks I commonly install, depending on the door type and what the lock needs to do.
Biometric Digital Mortice Lock
Best for many standard timber doors.
This is the most common digital lock option I install. It uses a mortice lock body and suits many timber doors with a standard 60mm backset and 85mm centre-to-centre euro mortice lock footprint.
Key features:
Fingerprint access
PIN code access
RFID card access
App control
Emergency key override
Latch function for everyday use
Lift handle to deadbolt for extra security
Battery powered with emergency power backup
Good for: front doors, back doors and many standard timber doors where customers want convenient access without giving out physical keys.

Slim Digital Lock for Aluminium Doors
Best for narrow aluminium frame doors and some sliding doors.
This option is useful when a standard digital mortice lock is too wide for the door. It suits many narrow aluminium frame glass doors and some sliding door applications where space is limited.
Key features:
Fingerprint access
PIN code access
RFID card access
App control
Emergency key override
Slim body design
Good for: narrow aluminium doors, glass doors, selected sliding doors and doors with limited stile width.
Budget Internal Digital Lever Set
Best for internal doors.
This is a budget-friendly option for internal doors where weather rating is not required. It can suit internal office doors, garage-to-house doors and selected room doors.
Key features:
Fingerprint access
PIN code access
App control
Emergency key override
Simple lever set design
Battery powered
Good for: internal doors where you want simple keyless access without spending as much as a full external digital mortice lock.
Note: not suitable for exposed external doors.
Choosing the Right Digital Lock
Not every digital lock suits every door. Door thickness, backset, frame width, weather exposure and how the door locks all matter. I can check the door and recommend an option that suits the hardware, security level and how you want to use the lock.
Digital Lock FAQs
-
In many cases, yes. It depends on the door type, lock position, backset, frame clearance and existing cut-outs.
-
Many models I install have an emergency key override, but it depends on the lock type.
-
Most digital locks give low-battery warnings and also have emergency power backup options.
-
Not always. Some locks work locally by fingerprint, PIN, card or Bluetooth app. Wi-Fi or a gateway is usually only needed for remote access.
